 A graduate of the Federal University of Bahia in 1987, obtained a diploma in in Vitro Fertilization and biomedical research at the Medical School of Valencia, Spain. In 1992, he earned a Ph.D. in gynecology and obstetrics at the University of Valencia. The post-doctorate in embryology and fertilization was done at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
